My entry was accepted into Drake Relays 2026

It’s official: the comeback is on! After missing out last year due to elbow surgery, I’m thrilled to announce that I’ll be competing in the Decathlon at the 2026 Drake Relays.

I'm currently in Dickinson, ND, wrapping up some coaching for the Frontier Conference Multi-Event Championships, and the energy from our athletes has me incredibly pumped to get back on the track myself.

The Game Plan

Since this is my first decathlon in nearly two years, my main focus is on consistency and managing fatigue. Here’s a breakdown of what I’m eyeing for each event:

100m: Looking to set the tone early and stay close to my PR.

Field Events: Feeling consistent in Shot Put and Discus, which are usually my strengths. High Jump is the one I’m most nervous about, but I’m targeting a solid 1.85m to keep the momentum going.

Pole Vault: Being conservative with a goal of 4.40m, but I’ve got some great poles borrowed for the meet.

Javelin: The elbow is feeling strong! I’ve had to be careful with intensity during rehab, but I'm ready to let it fly.

The Finish: The 1500m is always the ultimate test (carrying 210 lbs for four laps is no joke!), but I’m aiming for a total score around 6,800 points.

How to Watch

I'll be competing at Drake Stadium in Des Moines, Iowa on the following schedule:

Day 1: Wednesday, April 22 @ 11:30 AM

Day 2: Thursday, April 23 @ 10:00 AM

Thank you all for the incredible support—knowing you're in my corner makes the recovery and the training worth every second. Let’s do this!

Are you heading to Des Moines for the relays, or will you be watching the stream from home?
